Measurements & Size Charts

If you are able to visit our store, one of our experienced consultants will take your measurements and discuss with you where you fall on the size chart each of our designers provide us.

If you are unable to visit our store, we recommend that you visit a tailor or other professional who performs alterations in your area to get measured, then compare those measurements to the appropriate size chart below.

The measurements most designers require are bust, waist, and hips.  Extra length may be available in select styles.  For customers who are more than 5'6", or who will be more than 5'6" in the shoes they will wear to the event, we request a hollow to hem measurement and skirt length measurement as well.  These measurements should be taken wearing the shoes you will wear for the event.

For little girls’ pageant dresses, most designers require measurements for bust, waist, hips, and hollow to hem.  The hollow to hem measurement should be taken with the shoes the customer will wear for the event.

For men’s tuxedos, we request the following measurements: Coat size, waist, outseam, neck, and sleeve length.  We also request height, weight, and shoe size.  For boys, we request all of the same measurements except coat size; we request their chest measurement instead.  For boys, please also provide the size they usually wear in shirts and pants.

The size to order is the customer’s decision. It is rare for a customer’s measurements to match a size chart perfectly.  Customers’ measurements usually fall between sizes, and the need for alterations is common.  We strongly recommend that the customer order the largest size that her measurements indicate she needs.  Dresses can be taken in if they are too large; it is much more difficult to alter them to fit if they are too small.

Bridal gowns, bridesmaids dresses, and prom and pageant dresses are typically sized smaller than street wear.  From time to time, a customer asks us to order a smaller size than what the size chart indicated she needs.  In such a case, we will comply with the customer’s request.  We cannot, however, exchange the dress, provide a refund, or pay for alterations if the size requested by the customer is too small.
